Why waterfasting

Our bodies, for many reasons, can either be suffering from acute or chronic toxicity. Some factors that can contribute to our toxic load going over the limit are:

  1. What we eat, pesticides, chemicals that are sprayed on food or added to processed food, such as glycosates (Round up for example) sprayed on to crops. Also, heavy metals, chlorine in tap water. Hormones injected into animals that we eat.
  2. The air we breathe, car pollution, emissions from industry, the materials used to build homes.
  3. Pollution from plastics.
  4. Chemical cleaning products used for cleaning homes, clothing and cars etc.
  5. Chlorine inhalation and absorption from swimming pools.

All these factors resulting in damage to our cells and can result in inflammation and disease. Some results of this can presented as ME, brain fog, low energy. Depression and anxiety, thyroid issues, auto-immune conditions and cancer. Weight gain.

Strengthening the immune system

More than 80% of our immunity comes from the gut. In western society our intestines over work due to overeating, poor nutrition and toxins. Waterfasting enables the gut to rest and strengthen. Fasting can help to starve unwanted bugs in the gut. At the end of the fast we reintroduce positive flora with saturates, kefir and other probiotics and prebiotics. Your immune system is greatly helped to come into balance and this can support people with autoimmune disease.

After completing a waterfasting course you may decide to bring regular waterfasting into your self care healing programmes. For example, fasting for one day per week, so many days per month or following an intermittent daily fasting routine.

Integrating back into nutrition making a new choices

After completing a waterfasting programme you may choose to make changes to your previous eating patterns. If you decide to continue fasting and to make dietary changes while at home you may benefit from continued support and guidance.

Some days of reintegration back into eating are offered as well as phone or online coaching and if you do not choose to stay.

In a busy lives it is easy to override the messages from our body. Waterfast and often helps us to reconnect to listening to our bodies and hearing what we most need. This supported time in retreat is a unique opportunity for self care. Responses to autophagy vary from relaxation, tiredness to having lots of energy, or to have detox symptoms.
